MANGGUGUAH TABUAH

Beating The Drum

Tabuah as a big, it’s of ancient Minang Kabau Culture origin. It is specially sounded to inform society of praying time because all of Minang Kabau are Moslems. Besides, it is also sounded when some one passed away, and to highlight Idul Fitri Day celebration, one day after fasting month.

In the old time when Minang Kabau would hold a wedding party, they had to rent the wedding costum to the costumary house. Because not all of them can have it. More over it is not an ordinary clothes. The bride is called ANAK DARO and bridegroom is called MARAPULAI

Welcoming Dance

Welcoming Dance This dance is presented to welcome the honorary guests arrival. It will began with beautiful movement of Pencak Silat. In the mid of this dance, one of dancer will offer Daun Sirih or beatle leafe to the guests. Which is put in ceremonial cup or Carano as a sign of host espect to the guests, such as kindles, honesty and friendly.

TALEMPONG PACIK

It is instrumentalian music thet usually performed on celebration days. Is the rythym is consist of five talempongs and a small wind instrument namely Sarunai, as melodic instrument and Gandang as beating instrument. It also played to follow a new wedding couple in a procession to the bride house.

TARI PAYUANG

Most of youth around Bukittinggi, went for a sight to Sungai Tanang, small village with a marvelous crater lake. There, they run and pleasure each other for enjoy It’s all discribe in perasol dance

BATAMBUA

It’s played to memorize the bravery of Hasan and Husen Killed in Carbela war, their spirits is shown in the rhythm from slow to fast and adroide rhythm

SILEK

(Art of self Defence )

The Minangkabau kas their own art of self defence namely sileks. It is very different with others self defence sport in other countries. Silek is also well-known as akind of art. Because besides having adroit and quickt movement, it also has soft movements imitate the animals, such as tiger, cat, eagle, snake, etc.

ALUANG BUNIAN

Aluang bunian is music composition of some instrument such as gandang, saluang, bansi, sarunai and talempong. Aluang bunian will create the wonderfull sound. It is played by changing from one instrumrnt to other musical instrument.
