I promised Aini that she'll get something for her birthday... it took a while though but finally I did take her down to Dr Marten flagship store in Singapore for her to choose her own Dr Marten.
She went ga ga inside the shop but settled for a nice sober pair of shoes....

One item of punk gear that was available on a national
scale, however, and at a uniform price, was the Dr. Martens boot. Punk’s two
defining fashion statements - badly cut short hair and any trousers except
flares - helped make the boot uncannily suitable. In fact, many punks lovingly
customised their Docs, painting them, using different coloured laces,
scratching the leather, even hot-knifing the soles to form different finishes.
