Istana Iskandariah, Kuala Kangsar

Istana Iskandariah terletak di atas Bukit Chandan, di tepi kanan Sungai Perak , bersebelahan dengan Kampung Padang Kawad, bandar diraja Kuala Kangsar, Perak Darul Ridzuan. Inilah istana rasmi tempat bersemayam Raja-raja pemerintah yang ditabal sebagai Sultan Perak sejak tahun 1933 dahulu. Nama istana ini sempena nama Sultan Iskandar Shah yang bertanggungjawab terhadap pembinaannya dahulu.
Tapak asalnya merupakan tapak Istana Negara yang dirobohkan pada 1933. Senibina istana ini mengambil corak senibina Islam-India 'Saracenic' dengan campuran senibina Asia Barat. Motif pada gerbang tajam ( pointed arch) , hiasan minaret, kubah berbentuk bawang ( onion shaped domes). Ia adalah hasil ilham , pengalaman dan perjalanan arkitek dan jurutera British di Tanah Melayu.





Iskandariah Palace located on Bukit Chandan, on the right bank of the Perak River, adjacent to the Village Parade, the royal town of Kuala Kangsar, Perak. This is an official palace residence of the Sultan of Perak since 1933. The name of this castle, named after Sultan Iskandar Shah who was in charge of its construction.
The site was originally the site of the demolished National Palace in 1933. Architecture takes into account the patterns of Islamic architecture of India 'Saracenic' with a mixture of West Asian architecture. The motive is similar to a sharp arch (pointed arch), decorative minarets, onion-shaped domes (onion shaped Domes). It is based on the inspiration, experience and travel the architects and engineers of the British in Malaya.
