More than 25km today with the family
The writings/articles/scribbles are my collection of what is stumbled or read somewhere on the net (I try to give credit where it is due). Most of the time I forgot where I read something, hopefully this will compile all those in one site and along the way we hope not to compromise or infringe any law.

Masjid Ubudiah, Kuala Kangsar

Pembangunan Masjid Ubudiah bermula dari zaman Sultan Idris Murshidul Adzam Shah I, Sultan Perak ke-28.
In terms of historical background Ubudiah Mosque located near Iskandariah Palace, it is a mosque built because of a promise or vow by Sultan Idris to pay homage because he has recovered from his illness. During a break in treatment in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Sultan Idris Shah Murshidul'adzam I (1887-1916) has vowed to build a mosque in Bukit Chandan if his health recovered.

However, construction was delayed when the marble stones purchased from Italy was trampled by two elephants belonging to him and the Raja (Sir) Chulan, son of Sultan Abdullah. It seemed that the elephant named Kulub Chandan and its shepherd named Kulup Sa'id was fighting with an elephant belonging to Raja Chulan named Kulub Gangga and its shepherd named Uda Debok.
The fight has spread to the area where the workers had stored the marbles and it was destroyed during the fight which went on for very long hours, until Raja Chulan himself came to the scene, and ordered his elephant to stop fighting. Many people came and tried before Raja Chulan came to break up the elephants, but to no avail.

Since the marble stone was destroyed, they had to be ordered again from Italy. Unfortunately, the delivery of the marble was delayed because of the First World War in Europe and it has to be brought via South Africa. Mosque construction value was approximately $ 22,000.00 (in 1912 value).
On Friday, September 26, 1913, Sultan Idris Shah I, laid the foundation stone of the mosque. The mosque was completed and officially opened by Sultan Abdul Jalil Shah Karamatullah (1916-1918.), Sultan of the 29th, in 1917.
